sbak receives Famous Software Award

sbak has been awarded the Famous Software Award for coming up with innovative and efficient ways to reflect the best relationship with users assuring their satisfaction.

sbak for windows will be released this month allowing windows server users to experience the ease of incremental backups that sbak has enabled for Unix, Linux and Mac OSX users.

sbak updates

It is recommended that all users of sbak update to revision 14. This new revision has been rewritten in C, and no longer exposes sensitive backup information in the process list. This version should work everywhere that the old version worked, as long as there is a GNU c compiler.

Freshbooks interest calculator

We’ve just built a system that allows users of Freshbooks to automatically apply interest to their client’s invoices, as well as apply NET XX XX rules, and charge monthly financing fees for carrying debt.

The last week has been pretty busy for us.

SBAK TO THE RESCUE

Shortly after releasing the SBAK backup script, it has come to the rescue. Our client, B-Notions, decided to integrate SBAK into their data-protection strategy, and just in time.

A virus struck, wiping out millions of dollars worth of business websites including some belonging to our client and their clients. Luckily, sbak had backups which allowed them to resume business as usual in short order.

Remember, a good data-protection strategy protects against failure as well as protecting against accidental data changes and hacking/viruses. SBAK is a progressive backup system based on proven delta backup technology which allows for low cost remote backups that can restore your data to any point in the past.

PRACTICAL EXTRACTION AND REPORTING, ANYONE?

Another client, Cumberland Private Wealth Management, called on us to extract large amounts of financial data from an electronic source, allowing them to calculate trading information which will increase their productivity in trading.

Looks like we finished just in time for the big board meeting. This new feature will help Cumberland be an industry leader through 2009 thwarting any effect the recession may have on other trading companies.

sbak goes open source

We put in our application to sourceforge today to host our project, sbak, as a GPL licensed project. Fingers crossed, we’ll be checking in source code for the public to use in the next day or two.

sbak enables you to easily backup remote servers with a simple command line. The backups can be automated, and sbak uses hard-links to make your backups consume as little space as possible.
