Freshbooks interest calculator

We’ve just built a system that allows users of Freshbooks to automatically apply interest to their client’s invoices, as well as apply NET XX XX rules, and charge monthly financing fees for carrying debt.

We’re looking to find people interested in testing/using the system. Please send us an email at our support email address, which you’ll find on the support page.

Backups now online

Backups have been restored and new backups are available dated today at 3pm and on. Customers can request restores from the date of their choosing for a nominal fee. In the event of a server failure, restores are completely free to our customers.

We continue to use sbak, our own open source backup software.

Telephone and backup updates

We have discovered that our office telephone system has not been routing calls as expected. We are aiming to have our telephone system and backups fully functional by the end of today.

As usual, our end-user-service is working flawlessly. Web service, and telephone services provided to our customers are 100% up and running.

OG Backup network center move

Our backup-network center is moving. As a result, backups will not be available until Thursday June 18, 2009.

Obstacles gone have upgraded our servers to protect against http://web.nvd.nist.gov/view/vuln/detail?vulnId=CVE-2009-1185

This vulnerability allowed users to obtain root access, and perform denial of service attacks. Check with your ISP to make sure they have upgraded.

The last week has been pretty busy for us.

SBAK TO THE RESCUE

Shortly after releasing the SBAK backup script, it has come to the rescue. Our client, B-Notions, decided to integrate SBAK into their data-protection strategy, and just in time.

A virus struck, wiping out millions of dollars worth of business websites including some belonging to our client and their clients. Luckily, sbak had backups which allowed them to resume business as usual in short order.

Remember, a good data-protection strategy protects against failure as well as protecting against accidental data changes and hacking/viruses. SBAK is a progressive backup system based on proven delta backup technology which allows for low cost remote backups that can restore your data to any point in the past.

PRACTICAL EXTRACTION AND REPORTING, ANYONE?

Another client, Cumberland Private Wealth Management, called on us to extract large amounts of financial data from an electronic source, allowing them to calculate trading information which will increase their productivity in trading.

Looks like we finished just in time for the big board meeting. This new feature will help Cumberland be an industry leader through 2009 thwarting any effect the recession may have on other trading companies.

sbak released under GPL v3

Feel free to get involved with the sbak project! We just released our code on sourceforge. You will need a subversion client to download the source.

bridgelin network nears launch

bridgelinThings are looking good for the bridgelin network. The last few months of development have yielded an effective easy to use content management system which makes the sharing of content easier than it has ever been. Keep an eye on this animal.

sbak goes open source

We put in our application to sourceforge today to host our project, sbak, as a GPL licensed project. Fingers crossed, we’ll be checking in source code for the public to use in the next day or two.

sbak enables you to easily backup remote servers with a simple command line. The backups can be automated, and sbak uses hard-links to make your backups consume as little space as possible.
